// V L O G D E C E M B E R 2 0 1 3 //

I've put together a rough compilation of what I did this month to end my 2013 blogging year. This video may or not be taken down since the music is copyrighted by my (current) favorite band - The 1975. If you follow them on any of their social media handles, you might understand my title reference ;) Obviously, I do not own this music, so please don't take the video down YouTube. (Although remixes often pass the test).
I would like to thank you peeps who read this blog, I know I barely blog, but thanks for sticking it out with me. Look for more vlogs and photoshoots in the future!
So - how was your 2013? And what are some of your New Year's resolutions?

Metropolitan Opera House

Here are just some photos I took whilst visiting the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center.
I chose not post a front headshot of the opera house because it does not give the enormity of this building justice. From the side, you realize how tall this building really is compared that man next to the tree. You have to go there yourself to experience the initial awe in the architecture of this magnificent building.
If you look closely at the top, what do you see?! A creepy woman looking down at you! At first, I thought it was a ghost or a reflection of myself. As I stared at it, I realized it most definitely does not resemble me. So then I looked at the other photos I took, and she was still there!! I was trippin'.
...But then I realized... the Metropolitan Opera House has a giant sheer billboard hanging from it's windows with a creepy woman's face on it... LOL
I watched a rehearsal of Rigoletto and inside the opera house, there were giant (and small) beautiful starburst chandeliers hanging from the ceiling.

Black on Black

Black is and always be trendy. However, recently, from catwalks to street fashion, I have seen countless fashionable women and men dress in all black. It is safe to say black is back. I wear black year round, but there is no better season to deck out in all black than in Autumn/Winter.
The Phillip Lim x Target collaboration was probably the most anticipated fashion collaboration of the year. I was lucky enough to get my hands on of the cutest handbags. Although the quality is not as great as I would expect from Phillip Lim, I love the gold hardware on the bag.
To give any black outfit more depth and dimension, add gold accessories or incorporate gold accents into each piece. When paired with black, gold adds a royal feel to your outfit. You can also play with textures. Mix and match leather, faux leather, wool, cotton, nylon, etc.
My friend Janet and I went to the Met and Central Park. It was a beautiful day. I feel like I say that every time (that it's a beautiful day), but its true! I guess I only shoot on days when its nice out haha.

Beach in the Autumn

I took a weekend trip out to Eastern Long Island and visited the beach. It was a perfect crisp autumn day and I had so much fun in an adventure-packed day.
Beaches on the north shore of Long Island typically are less sandy and more rocky.
My childhood friend! :)
Doing the titanic (or Cristo Redento)
By the way, did you notice my hair?
I put it in a ponytail and my brother cut it off! I donated it to Locks of Love. I love short hair, its easier to manage, has more volume and still hides my surgery scars. If you see me in person, one side of my hair is longer than the other haha. That's what happens when you let your brother cut your hair. I don't mind though, it's just hair. :)

University Life

It's been a while! I've been busy enjoying and experiencing college life, taking a break from blogging, but still taking photographs. College is great, but its much more rigorous and includes a heck of a lot more essays. You have a lot of free time, however you have to learn how to manage your that time. There's always something to do on campus, and even though there is so much free time, I don't know where it all goes. I felt like my first month went by in a blink of an eye, but my friend who does not have the freedom to travel home every weekend says one month left like 5 years. Since going off to college, I have grown a stronger passion for art, particularly paintings. Also, you meet a new, wide spectrum of people. I strongly recommend dorming for college, even if you are close enough to commute, because it is a liberating and you get to meet so much more people that way.
The first picture was taken somewhere in downtown Manhattan, near the Financial District. In the second, a friend and I went to the Whitney Museum! The third is the Monet's Waterlilies in the MoMa. And the last is of a visit back home.
If you have an instagram, you can find me @ jenndocuments if that piques your fancy.

The last of Summer

As summer comes to a screeching halt, I am determined to start my fresh(wo)man year with (hopefully) high grades. Unfortunately, those hopes and dreams are overshadowed by expensive textbooks, inability to focus and summer nostalgia that still clings in the air. Whether you're a college fresh(wo)man like me, or entering your senior year in high school, here are some (random) tips from some girl on the internet:
exercise, even if it's walking for 15 minutes a day
watch your diet & eat you're veggies! (you don't want to gain that Fresh(wo)men 15)
wear sunscreen! I know people our age don't care, but you'll care when you're in your mid-30s! And I guarantee my skin will look better than yours! ;P

I love a sheer chiffon top and this simple green thing of a bling easily transitions an outfit from summer to fall. Although it hasn't been blistering hot in New York this summer, I am ready to move on into cooler autumn weather and take pictures in red and orange leaves.

Beach Breeze

I am not the biggest fan of the beach, but a summer is not complete without going to the beach. I particularly enjoy going in the afternoon when it's cooler and there's a beach breeze. The water was really cold but refreshing. As you can see, I'm walking again! However, I'm still wobbly and can't do the normal things I once took for granted (like turning my neck.)

Just a few snaps from a new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 lens.
How cute is that?! Eyelashes for your car :D

Black & White Silly Kind of Film Day

Some friends visited me while I am recovering, & it's just us being weird.
While we were at it, I figured I'd play around with my camera :)

Belvedere Castle | Photoshoot with Stylish Delights

The pictures seem like not many tourists were there, however there were a lot! We avoided them ;) even though I would consider myself a tourist haha
I wasn't planning on being photographed and I don't really like to be (I like to be the photographer ;)), but it was a lax day, so I figured I'd teach Michelle a bit. Plus, my face is make-up free D: yuck but that's alright

Third times the charm! I've been teaching Michelle how to use my camera and they developed wondrously.

Boating Fun | Day in a Life

To you fellow readers, I haven't been gone long, but to me, I've just spent 1 week in the hospital for brain surgery! Story for another day (possible vlog). I am well and healthy now, very very happy, and excited for the rest of this summer. A quick gist of what happened since my last adventure with Michelle, I got sick, and unfortunately had to quit my lifeguarding job.
Enough digression, me and Michelle tried to snag last minute tickets to Shakespeare in the Park for the second to last show of "The Comedy of Errors". Unfortunately, we got lost, got on line late and did not get tickets ;( I was pretty bummed out because it was literally watching an episode of the Amazing Race where the path is next to you/in front of your face but you miss it! And that wasted 30 minutes of our time, which most likely cost us our seats. Additionally, Jesse Tyler Fergerson was casted in "The Comedy of Errors" and I am a huge Modern Family fan.
With not much in mind, we had a picnic, tooks pictures and went boating.
Whilst waiting, I was playing around with my DSLR & black & white photography ^_^
This was not even a small portion of the line. Hence, we did not get tickets :/
A lovely European couple took quite a lovely photo of us :) Michelle looks lovely as always
It was a very hot day and many performers were working hard entertaining tourists.

Flower Child | Photoshoot with Sea-Shell Eyes

With a casual, flower-child idea in mind, my friend Kim from Sea-shelleyes scheduled an extremely fun and hot photo shoot day with me. We walked around our neighborhood looking for the perfect backgrounds/scenes and the results were "tumblr-worthy" (to quote Kim haha)
These were my favorites. I especially loved the overly exposed, blurry and grainy ones. Hope you found it interesting and if any of you know me, I would love it if you reached me so we can do a photoshoot. :) Thanks for reading!
